Ocean Blvd Closed in Rye Press Release

Date of release:  March 2, 2018

Reference: Ocean Blvd Closed Due to Coastal Flooding in Rye

Due to the impending wind warning and current dangerous ocean conditions, the Town of Rye is shutting down Ocean Blvd, effective immediately. Rocks and debris from the sea walls are being blown into the roadways and there are concerns of potential vehicle damage and injury to people. The dates and times are subject to change, depending on the weather and ocean conditions.

The Police and Fire Chiefs are asking for the public’s cooperation. If people go near the water or go into the water, you will be putting yourself and rescuers at risk. Police and fire personnel may have to leave other emergencies in order to assist you. Again, we are asking for the public’s cooperation and request that everyone stay away from the dangerous ocean conditions. Please seek alternate routes.
