Officer Struck by Drunk Driver

On Saturday 08/15/14 around 9pm, Rye police and fire personnel were dispatched to the area of Jenness Beach for a brush fire. While on scene, it was determined that the fire was caused by fireworks coming from a nearby Ocean Blvd. residence. Officers were walking to that residence to investigate when a car approached the scene northbound. The car didn't slow down, crossed the fog line onto the shoulder, and struck Officer BT Conlon with it's side mirror. She nearly struck Sgt. Blais and Fire Lt. Gallant as well. The vehicle didn't stop, continuing northbound. Sgt. Blais stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver:

Fagan admitted to drinking, admitted to knowing she struck a police officer, and admitted to talking on her cell phone at the time of the crash. She was charged with:

DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED
POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED/NARCOTIC DRUGS
POSSESSION OF DRUGS IN A MOTOR VEHICLE
RECKLESS OPERATION
CONDUCT AFTER AN ACCIDENT

Bail was set at $10,000 cash/surety and she was transferred to the Rockingham County Jail. She posted bail the following day.

Officer Conlon was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital by the Rye Fire Department. He was treated for non-life threatening injuries and released later that evening.

North Hampton, New Castle, and State Police assisted on scene.
